UK was founded in 2025 by its inaugural chancellor, Dr. Jason J. Bowman, RTMP (hon.) as a common law universatis and institution for higher learning.

Universatis Kó:wa exists to restore depth, integrity, and cultural truth to global learning. Rooted in the original intellectual tradition of the Mohawks and the Great Peace, the Universatis provides a space where history, governance, diplomacy, health, and human potential can be studied without distortion or ideological interference.
From its founding campus in the heart of Grand River territory at KANATA—located across from the Mohawk Chapel and next to the Mohawk Institute, core sites of North American historical memory—the Universatis expands outward to partner campuses across the world. Each campus shares a commitment to:

- Cultural continuity and restoration
- Independent scholarship free from political or commercial pressure
- Training leaders who can navigate complexity with integrity
- Reviving ancestral knowledge systems alongside modern academic disciplines
